What to expect on the day of a Dermal Filler treatment
On the day of your appointment, your specialist will walk you through the procedure and the techniques they will be using. The treatment is administered in stages, which the specialist will explain before they begin.
The first step is the facial assessment and mapping. Your specialist will evaluate your facial appearance and skin tone and examine the areas of your face to be augmented.
Strategic points on your face may be marked as the appropriate injection sites for the filler. Photographs may be taken of the areas to be treated.
Step two is cleansing and anesthetizing. The injection sites will be cleansed with an antibacterial agent. Pain at the injection site can be tempered by use of a very cold instrument to chill the skin, anesthetic ointment to numb the skin or injection of local anesthesia.
Step three is the injection itself. Injection usually takes only a few moments per site. The process of injecting, massaging, and evaluating the result is performed, and additional filler is added as needed.
Step four is clean up and recovery. Once the results are deemed satisfactory by your specialist and the patient, any markings will be cleaned off. You may be offered an ice pack to reduce swelling and alleviate discomfort.

Dermal Fillers recovery
The Dermal Filler treatment is very quick and mostly pain free. There is no downtime needed after you receive the treatment, which means you can resume normal activities right after your appointment. It is generally recommended that you avoid intense physical activity for the first 24-48 hours to minimize swelling and bruising. Be sure to discuss your specific recovery plan with your specialist prior to scheduling your injections.
